Le trésor artistique de la France

Ce travail a été réalisé dans le cadre d’une résidence d’artiste au Centre d’Art Fernand Léger de Port-de-Bouc en 2014, à partir de l’œuvre du photographe pionnier Léon Vidal. Les objets d’art du Louvre, photographiés au XIXᵉ siècle par Vidal pour diffuser son procédé innovant de photochromie, ont été à nouveau capturés dans les salles du musée, cette fois à l’aide d’un téléphone. Les images, incluant reflets, déformations numériques, surexpositions et autres imperfections, ont ensuite été imprimées, découpées, puis photographiées de nouveau sur des fonds en velours, reconstituant ainsi l’intégralité de l’album Le Trésor Artistique de la France du photographe (1876).
This work was produced as part of an artist residency at the Centre d’Art Fernand Léger in Port-de-Bouc in 2014, based on the work of pioneering photographer Léon Vidal. Rare objets d’art from the Louvre, photographed in the XIXᵉ century by Vidal to promote his innovative photochromy process, were again captured in the museum’s rooms, this time using a cheap telephone. The images, including reflections, digital distortions, overexposures and other imperfections, were then printed, cut out and photographed again on velvet backgrounds, reconstructing the entirety of the photographer’s album Le Trésor Artistique de la France (1876).
